Diagnosis
Your Epson WorkForce WF-2860 is currently broadcasting a Wi-Fi signal and searching for networks, which is unnecessary if you are exclusively using a USB connection. You can, and should, disable its wireless radio to reduce power consumption and eliminate any potential network interference or security considerations.
How to Fix It
To completely turn off the Wi-Fi radio on your WF-2860, follow these steps on the printer's control panel. First, it is wise to note your current Wi-Fi network name (SSID), password, and any Epson Connect information, as you will need these details to re-enable Wi-Fi in the future.
- Press the Home button (the icon with a house) on the printer's touchscreen.
- Tap the Wi-Fi icon (it looks like a fan or signal).
- Select Wi-Fi (Recommended) from the menu.
- Choose Change Settings.
- Select Others from the list of options.
- Tap Disable Wi-Fi.
- Select Start Setup to confirm your choice.
- When the process is complete, press the Home button to exit.
If That Didn't Work
If the Wi-Fi light remains on or the option is unavailable, perform a full reset of the network settings. From the same Wi-Fi (Recommended) > Change Settings menu, select Restore Network Settings and confirm. This will clear all Wi-Fi data. Then, immediately follow the steps above to disable Wi-Fi. As a last resort, you can temporarily block wireless signals by disconnecting the printer from power for two full minutes, which can clear any stuck network state.
Heads Up
After disabling Wi-Fi, any previously configured wireless printing (like from phones or other computers) will cease to function. All printing must be done via the USB cable connected to your computer. The printer's scanner function may also be limited to local USB use unless you have specific software configured.
