How to Fix It
To clean your T-fal Clipso safely and effectively, disassemble it after use and clean parts separately.
- Dishwasher Safe (Top Rack Recommended): The main stainless steel cooking pot and the stainless steel body of the lid can go in the dishwasher. Placing the lid body on the top rack helps protect any exterior finish.
- Hand Wash Only: You must remove and hand-wash the silicone sealing ring (gasket) with warm, soapy water, as dishwasher jets can degrade it and cause it to retain odors. Also hand-wash the anti-block shield (the small plastic/metal piece inside the lid), the pressure regulator/weight, and the plastic handle on the lid if your model has one.
- Always ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling and storing to prevent mildew.
If That Didn't Work
If you notice a persistent odor on the sealing ring or stains on the pot, hand-wash the ring with a vinegar solution or bake it in the oven at a low temperature (around 250°F for 10 minutes). For stubborn mineral stains on the stainless steel pot, use a paste of baking soda and water or a dedicated stainless steel cleaner, then rinse thoroughly.

Never put the entire assembled lid in the dishwasher, as this will trap corrosive detergent and steam on the sealing ring and internal mechanisms. A degraded sealing ring is a primary cause of pressure loss and safety hazards, so inspect it regularly for cracks or stiffness and replace it as needed.
