When you run a standard brew cycle with only water, you are performing a surface rinse. This removes leftover coffee oils and grounds from the brew basket and the exit nozzle. However, this does nothing to address the internal calcification that occurs within the heating element and the narrow internal tubing of the CFP301. Mineral scale—primarily calcium and magnesium—precipitates out of your water as it is heated, forming a hard, rock-like crust inside the boiler. Because these minerals are chemically bonded to the metal surfaces, water alone cannot dissolve them. If you rely solely on water flushes, the scale will continue to build until the water flow slows to a trickle, the brew temperature drops, or the pump begins to strain, eventually triggering a "Clean" alert on the display that will not disappear until a chemical descale is performed.
How to Fix It
To properly clear the system of mineral buildup and reset the internal maintenance timer, you must perform a full chemical descale. Follow these exact steps for the Ninja DualBrew Pro:
- Empty the water reservoir completely and remove any coffee pods or grounds from the brew basket.
