Yeah, this one's a common question. Printing while the device is plugged in is not recommended. It's for battery life reasons.
Charge it fully first—that takes about 3.5 to 4 hours. Then unplug it and print. If the battery is low, the red light will blink, and the device will shut off if you try to print.
