cosori air fryer making a lot of white smoke, is it broken?

— asked by Sofia

Yeah, this one's common. White smoke is usually just steam or heated oil, not a malfunction.

First, unplug it and let it cool. Pull the basket out for faster cooling. Once safe, clean the basket and the crisper plate thoroughly. Grease buildup underneath the crisper plate is a prime culprit—that oil heats up and smokes. For stubborn grease, make a paste of 2 tbsp baking soda and 1 tbsp water, spread it on, let sit 15 minutes, then rinse.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If it's a brand-new unit, some initial smoke or steam from manufacturing residues is normal. Run a test cycle: empty basket, preheat at 400°F for 4 minutes, then run the Steak function at 450°F for 5 minutes. This can burn off residues.

HEADS UP: Dark smoke is a different story—that means food is burning or there's a circuit problem. If you see dark smoke, unplug immediately, wait for the smoke to clear before removing the basket, and contact support if it wasn't burnt food.
