DIAGNOSIS A foreign object is caught in the wash pump or spray arm. Common culprits are lemon pits, olive pits, or broken glass.
FIX Immediately cancel the cycle. Remove the lower rack and filter assembly (the microfilter and flat filter). Visually inspect the sump area for debris. Remove the silverware basket and check the small wash arm for obstructions. Manually rotate the lower spray arm to feel for grinding.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The wash pump impeller may be damaged by the object. If noise persists after clearing debris, the circulation pump may need replacement.
HEADS UP Always use the extra fine filter (supplied) in the silverware basket to prevent small hard items from falling into the sump.
