food at the bottom of the basket is burning while the top isn't cooked, even when i shake it

DIAGNOSIS Uneven cooking is almost always an airflow issue. In the TurboFry, the fan is at the bottom. If the perforated cooking tray isn't fully seated or is blocked, hot air can't circulate properly.

FIX First, ensure you're not overloading the basket. Food should be in a single layer. Second, confirm the slotted metal tray is clicked securely into the bottom of the plastic basket frame. It should sit flat. Third, before cooking, toss food in a bit of oil—dry food doesn't brown evenly.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The heating element may have a hot spot. Test this by running the empty fryer at 400°F for 10 minutes. Unplug, let cool slightly, and carefully feel (don't touch) for uneven radiant heat from the element. An extreme hot spot indicates an element problem.

HEADS UP The "Shake" reminder is less effective if food is wet or crowded. For best results, pause halfway, remove the basket entirely, place contents in a bowl, toss thoroughly, and then return them to the basket. This is more effective than just shaking the basket.
