how do i properly empty the bin on my dyson v8 without dust going everywhere? it's a mess every time.

The key is to contain the dust during the release and to empty it before it's overfilled.

  1. Empty the bin as soon as the dirt reaches the top mark—don't let it overfill.
  2. Remove the wand from the machine first.
  3. Hold the machine directly over your trash can. For minimal dust, you can cover the bin loosely with a plastic bag.
  4. Pull the bin release catch upwards. The cyclone will slide up and the bin base will open, releasing the dirt directly downward into the trash.
  5. After emptying, push down on the cyclone until it slides into position, then push the bin base upwards until it clicks securely shut.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: For a deep clean, you can remove the entire bin. Pull back on the red catch on the base, slide the bin down, and pull it off. Wipe it inside with a damp, lint-free cloth. Let it dry completely before clicking it back onto the main body.

HEADS UP: Never put the bin in a dishwasher or use detergents or polishes on it.
