i can’t get the handheld part to detach from the main vacuum body.

— asked by Jamie

DIAGNOSIS The release latch on the pod is either stuck or not being fully engaged. Dirt or debris in the latch mechanism is common.

FIX Press the handheld release button firmly. Simultaneously, grasp the handheld unit and wiggle it side-to-side while pulling up. Do not just pull straight up without using the button.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Debris may be jamming the latch. Unplug the vacuum. Visually inspect the silver latch button on the pod and the corresponding slot on the handheld. Use a can of compressed air to blow out any visible debris from both parts.

HEADS UP Never use excessive force to separate them. This can break the plastic locking tabs. If compressed air doesn't work, contact Shark support for a latch mechanism inspection.
