i factory reset my arlo go 2 and now it won't add back to my app, just says 'connection failed'.

Quick answer: Post-reset, the camera defaults to trying to connect via WiFi for setup, but the Arlo Go 2 requires a cellular connection or a direct WiFi connection to your phone to complete setup.

Diagnosis

Post-reset, the camera defaults to trying to connect via WiFi for setup, but the Arlo Go 2 requires a cellular connection or a direct WiFi connection to your phone to complete setup.

How to Fix It

Force the direct-connection setup method.

  1. In the Arlo app, tap 'Add Device' and select 'Arlo Go 2'.
  2. When prompted for connection type, choose 'WiFi' (even though it's cellular). Do NOT select 'Cellular'.
  3. Follow to connect your phone directly to the camera's temporary WiFi network (SSID starts with 'Arlo').
  4. Complete setup in the app, then it will switch back to using cellular for normal operation.

If That Didn't Work

The camera may be too far from your phone during this Bluetooth/WiFi direct handshake. Bring them within 3 feet of each other.

Heads Up

After a factory reset, the camera is disassociated from your cellular plan. You must have an active Arlo cellular plan available in your account to assign to it during setup.
