it's making really cloudy or milky looking ice cubes, not clear

— asked by Riley

DIAGNOSIS Cloudy ice is caused by dissolved minerals and air bubbles trapped during the freezing process. The AI-215SS uses a directional freezing method, but water quality is critical.

FIX You must use filtered or distilled water. Do not use standard tap water. Ensure the external water bottle is filled with water that has been filtered through a reverse osmosis or zero-water system. Run a cleaning cycle to purge any mineral buildup from the lines.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The freezing cycle may be too fast. Try setting the unit to the 'Slow Freeze' mode if available. This allows more time for air and impurities to be purged from the water before it solidifies.

HEADS UP The first few batches after cleaning or a long power-off period will often be cloudy. Discard the first 2-3 batches. Clarity should improve with continuous operation and proper water.
