DIAGNOSIS The 26 lb/day rating is under ideal lab conditions (70°F room temp, 50°F water). Real-world conditions—like a warm kitchen or using tap water in summer—cut speed drastically.
FIX Boost production by using pre-chilled water. Keep a jug of water in the fridge and use that to refill the reservoir. Also, place the unit in the coolest spot possible, away from heat sources.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Check that the air intake vents on the back aren't blocked by dust or pushed against a wall. The compressor needs airflow to cool efficiently. Clear at least 6 inches of space behind it.
HEADS UP The first batch after startup always takes the longest (up to 15 minutes). Subsequent batches are faster. Don't judge its speed on the initial cycle.
