The Canon MegaTank G3270 requires a specific handshake between the printer's internal wireless card and your router before it becomes "visible" to the Canon PRINT app or Windows/macOS discovery services. Most users assume that putting the printer in "Setup Mode" is enough, but the G3270 often fails to broadcast its temporary SSID if the network security protocol is set to WPA3 or if the printer is attempting to connect to a 5GHz band, which it does not support.
The root cause is typically a "Network Disconnect" state where the printer is idling in a waiting mode rather than actively broadcasting. If your phone or PC cannot find the printer, the printer is likely not authenticated on the local network, meaning it has no IP address. You can confirm this by checking the LCD screen; if you don't see a solid signal strength icon, the printer is effectively offline, regardless of whether the "Wi-Fi" light is blinking.
How to Fix It
To manually force the G3270 onto your network and make it discoverable, follow these precise steps on the printer's control panel:
- Press the Setup button (represented by the pliers/screwdriver icon) on the operation panel.
- Use the arrow keys to navigate to Wi-Fi setup and press the OK button.
- Select Manual connect. This bypasses the often-unreliable "Easy Wireless Connect" mode and allows you to pick your specific network.
- The printer will now scan for available networks. Wait for your specific SSID (Network Name) to appear on the LCD and press OK.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password. Note that the G3270 uses a limited character entry system; use the arrow keys to toggle between uppercase, lowercase, and numbers. Press OK after each character and OK again once the full password is entered to confirm.
- Wait for the screen to display "Connected." Once this message appears, restart your computer or phone's Wi-Fi to refresh the network list.
If That Didn't Work
- Check Band Frequency: The G3270 only supports 2.4GHz networks. If you have a "Smart" or "Unified" router that merges 2.4GHz and 5GHz into one name, the printer may fail to handshake. Log into your router settings and temporarily create a separate 2.4GHz guest network specifically for the printer.
- Disable Firewall/VPN: If you are using a VPN (like NordVPN or ExpressVPN) or a strict third-party firewall (like Norton or McAfee) on your PC, the "Discovery" packet sent by the Canon driver will be blocked. Disable the VPN and set the network profile to "Private" instead of "Public" in Windows Network Settings.
- Perform a Network Reset: If you previously tried "Easy Wireless Connect" and it failed, the printer may be stuck in a loop. Go to Setup > Device settings > Reset device > LAN settings. Confirm the reset, then repeat the Manual Connect process.
- Verify IP via Web Interface: If the printer says it is connected but the PC still can't find it, print a network configuration page. Find the IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.15) and type that address directly into a web browser on your computer. If the printer's Remote UI page loads, the hardware is connected and the issue is purely with the software driver installation.
