just got a honda eu2200i and it won't start, the pull cord feels fine but nothing. what's wrong?

The engine was shipped without oil. It has an Oil Alert system that prevents startup if the oil level is too low.

FIX:

1. Place the generator on a level surface.
2. Remove the maintenance cover by loosening its screw.
3. Remove the oil filler cap by turning it counterclockwise.
4. Add SAE 10W-30 oil (or equivalent API SJ or later) until the oil level reaches the upper limit mark on the filler neck. Max capacity is 14 oz (0.44 L). Do not overfill.
5. Screw the oil filler cap back on securely and reinstall the maintenance cover.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: Check the fuel filler cap vent lever. It must be in the ON position for the engine to run. If it's OFF, the fuel tank is sealed and no fuel can flow.

HEADS UP: After initial fueling, the vacuum-operated fuel pump may need several pulls of the starter grip to draw fuel into the carburetor. Be patient.
