my honda generator's co-minder fault light is blinking once every two seconds. it still runs. what does that mean?

The FAULT/CO SENSOR LIFE indicator is flashing a specific pattern to warn you the CO-MINDER sensor is nearing the end of its useful life and will need replacement soon.

Fix: The flash pattern indicates remaining lifespan:

  • One flash every four seconds: Approximately 6 months to 1 year of life left.
  • One flash every two seconds: Approximately 6 months or less of life left.
When this happens, the system is still operational but will eventually fail. Contact an authorized Honda Power Equipment dealer for CO-MINDER replacement.

If That Didn't Work: If the engine stops and this indicator flashes for about five minutes, it signals a system malfunction. Press the CO-MINDER reset button. If it won't stay running after two restart attempts, there is a malfunction. Do not keep trying. Move the generator to a well-ventilated location and consult a Honda dealer.

Heads Up: The sensor's lifespan includes both operating time and storage time. Even if you don't use the generator for a year, the sensor is still aging.
