keurig supreme descale light is on, how do i turn it off?

— asked by Tom

Yeah, that light won't go away until you run the full descaling cycle. It's not a suggestion, it's a demand.

Here's the drill. You'll need a large ceramic mug, fresh water, and Keurig Descaling Solution. Don't use a paper cup.

  1. Prepare: Pour the whole bottle of descaling solution into the empty water reservoir. Fill the empty bottle with water and pour that in too. Don't put a K-Cup pod in. Place your large mug on the drip tray.
  2. Descale: With the brewer plugged in but powered OFF, press and hold the 8oz and 12oz buttons together for 3 seconds. The buttons will flash. Press the brew button to start. Once it's done, pour the liquid into the sink. Repeat this step until the ADD WATER light comes on.
  3. Rinse: Empty and rinse the water reservoir. Refill it to the MAX line with fresh water. With the buttons flashing, press brew to start rinsing. Pour out the water. Repeat until the DESCALE notification turns off. That's it.

Heads up: The whole thing takes about 20 minutes. If the brewer is really scaled up, it might sputter and blow air—just follow the rinse steps again after a 30-minute cool-down.
