Diagnosis
The total loss of power (no lights, no display) on a Keurig K-Supreme usually indicates a break in the electrical chain. This is typically caused by a tripped GFCI outlet, a blown internal thermal fuse, or the machine entering a deep sleep mode. Because these brewers draw significant wattage to heat water rapidly, they can easily trip circuit breakers or overload power strips if shared with other high-wattage appliances like toasters or microwaves.
How to Fix It
Follow these steps to restore power to your brewer:
- Verify the Power State: The K-Supreme features an auto-off energy-saving mode. Press the power button firmly to wake the machine.
- Test the Outlet: Unplug the brewer and plug in a small lamp or phone charger to the same socket. If the lamp doesn't work, your outlet or circuit breaker has tripped.
- Reset GFCI Outlets: If your brewer is plugged into an outlet with "Reset" and "Test" buttons (common in kitchens), press the Reset button firmly until it clicks.
- Direct Wall Connection: Remove any surge protectors, extension cords, or power strips. Plug the K-Supreme directly into a grounded wall outlet to ensure it is receiving full voltage.
If That Didn't Work
Perform a hard electrical reset to clear the internal logic board:
- Unplug the machine from the wall.
- Wait at least 60 seconds to allow the internal capacitors to discharge completely.
- Plug the unit back in and attempt to power it on.
- If the unit remains dead, the internal thermal fuse has likely blown due to overheating or a power surge, which requires a professional hardware replacement.
Heads Up
Do not attempt to disassemble the chassis to access the wiring or fuse. The K-Supreme contains high-voltage components and heating elements that can cause electric shock or void your warranty if the factory seals are broken.
