Diagnosis
The lid is stuck because the cooking pot is still under pressure. The sealing ring has created an airtight seal against the lid's rim, and the internal pressure is mechanically locking the lid in place. This is a critical safety feature to prevent accidental opening while under pressure.
How to Fix It
Follow these steps to safely release the pressure and open the lid:
- Ensure the Pressure Release Valve is set to the "Sealing" position (this is important for a controlled release).
- Do not touch the lid. Allow the cooker to cool naturally at room temperature. This can take 10-30 minutes.
- Wait for the "Keep Warm" or "Pressure" indicator light on the control panel to turn from blinking to solid, signaling pressure is fully released.
- Verify by gently moving the Pressure Release Valve to the "Venting" position. You should hear no hissing steam.
- Only then, turn the lid clockwise (to the right) to unlock and open it. It should turn easily.
If That Didn't Work
If the lid remains stuck after confirmed pressure release, check for these issues:
- Food Debris: Small food particles or hardened sauce on the rim or sealing ring can jam the mechanism. Cool the unit completely, then carefully wipe the inner rim of the pot and the lid's sealing ring with a damp cloth.
- Misaligned Lid: The lid may not be seated perfectly. Turn the lid counter-clockwise as far as it will go to ensure it's in the fully locked starting position, then try turning clockwise to open again.
- Faulty Sealing Ring: An old, cracked, or misshapen silicone sealing ring can cause excessive friction. Inspect the ring for damage and replace it if necessary.

Never force the lid open or attempt to cool the pot rapidly with cold water while pressurized. The sudden temperature change can warp components and create a dangerous steam explosion. Always allow for natural pressure release as the first and safest method.
