This failure is typically caused by one of three things: a severely clogged hose, a packed dirt compartment that restricts airflow, or a brush roll that is jammed with hair and string, forcing the motor to work twice as hard to spin the agitator. You can confirm a thermal trip if the vacuum remains unresponsive for several minutes but then suddenly works again after a long cooling period. If it doesn't recover after an hour, the issue is likely a physical break in the power cord or a blown internal fuse.
How to Fix It
To reset the vacuum and restore power, follow these exact steps:
- Immediately unplug the vacuum from the wall outlet. Do not leave it plugged in, as some thermal switches require a full power cycle to reset.
