my honda eu2200i generator just shut off by itself and a red light is flashing. what does this mean?

The CO-MINDER system detected a potentially dangerous level of carbon monoxide and shut the engine down for safety. The flashing light is the CO ALARM indicator.

FIX:

1. Immediately evacuate the area and get to fresh air. Seek medical attention if you feel sick (headache, nausea, dizziness).
2. Ventilate the area where the generator was running.
3. Do not restart the generator in the same location. Move it to a well-ventilated, open area at least 3 feet (1 meter) from any structure, with the exhaust pointed downwind.
4. Wait for the CO ALARM indicator to stop flashing (about five minutes).
5. Press the CO-MINDER reset button.
6. Restart the generator in the new, safe location.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If the FAULT/CO SENSOR LIFE indicator flashes instead, there may be a system malfunction. Press the reset button. If the engine stops again and the fault light returns, do not attempt more than two restarts. The CO-MINDER may need service. Contact an authorized Honda dealer.

HEADS UP: The CO-MINDER cannot prevent all danger. Never operate the generator inside any enclosed or partly enclosed space like a garage, tent, or vehicle.
