my hp 9125e is printing really faded or has streaks, even with brand new hp ink cartridges installed.

DIAGNOSIS The printheads are clogged with dried ink. This is a chronic issue with inkjet printers that see infrequent use. New cartridges do not solve a clogged internal printhead.

FIX Run the printer's built-in cleaning utility. On the control panel, tap the 'Setup' icon (wrench). Navigate to 'Tools' > 'Printer Maintenance' > 'Clean Printheads'. Follow the on-screen prompts. This will use a significant amount of ink. After it completes, print a 'Print Quality Report' from the same 'Tools' menu to check for improvement.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Perform a second, more powerful cleaning cycle. From the same 'Printer Maintenance' menu, select 'Deep Cleaning'. This cycle takes longer and uses more ink. If streaks persist on the report for a specific color, the printhead for that color may be failing.

HEADS UP The 9125e uses HP 910 ink cartridges. The printheads are built into the printer, not the cartridges. Letting the printer sit unused for weeks is the primary cause of clogs. For maintenance, print at least one color page per week.
