DIAGNOSIS The printer's embedded operating system has encountered a software glitch or memory leak, causing the touchscreen driver to become unresponsive.

FIX Perform a full restart cycle. Press and hold the power button on the printer for 7 seconds until the display goes completely black. Release the button. Wait 30 seconds, then press the power button once normally to turn the printer back on. Allow it to complete its full boot sequence.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Update the printer's firmware, which can resolve stability issues. Ensure the printer is connected to the internet. On the control panel, go to 'Setup' > 'Printer Updates' > 'Check for Updates'. If the screen is too unresponsive, update the firmware via the 'HP Smart' app on your computer.

HEADS UP A persistent, non-responsive touchscreen often follows a failed or interrupted firmware update. If standard restarts do not help, you may need to perform a 'cold reset' (hold Wireless + Cancel for 5 seconds) to restore factory settings, which will erase all network and custom settings.
