Diagnosis
For a brand-new Turelar 5-in-1 immersion blender, the most common reason it won't turn on is a simple user interface issue: the safety lock mechanism. This blender has a two-button system where the larger paddle-shaped "safety lock" on the back must be depressed *at the same time* as the front speed button for the motor to engage. It's an intentional design to prevent accidental starts.
How to Fix It
Hold the blender's main body in your hand as you normally would. Position your palm so the meaty part near your thumb is firmly pressing down the large rear safety lock button. While maintaining that pressure, use your index finger to press the desired front speed button (the "+" or "-"). The unit should immediately power on. Also, ensure it's plugged into a working outlet—despite the mention of charging in some literature, the 1100W model specified is a *corded* blender and does not have a battery.
If That Didn't Work
Check the power cord connection at the base of the blender handle; ensure it's fully inserted. Try a different electrical outlet. Inspect the blade shaft attachment; some models have a safety interlock that prevents operation if the blending shaft isn't clicked and locked into the motor body properly. Disconnect the shaft, re-align it, and push until you hear a definitive click.
Heads Up
Never submerge the motor body in water. Only the detachable blending shaft and attachments are dishwasher-safe. If the unit still doesn't operate after these checks, it may be a defective unit and you should contact Turelar support or your retailer for a replacement.
