DIAGNOSIS With a confirmed good outlet, this points to an internal power failure. The most common culprits are a blown thermal fuse (to protect from overheating) or a failed main control board.

FIX 1) Unplug the washer and wait 60 seconds. Plug it firmly back into the wall. 2) Check your home's circuit breaker or GFCI outlet that the washer is on—reset it even if it doesn't look tripped. 3) If still dead, the thermal fuse, located on the housing of the motor, may have blown. This requires a multimeter to test for continuity.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The main control board or the user interface panel could have failed. A power surge can fry components. You'll need to test for power at the board connections.

HEADS UP Before you dive into electrical diagnostics, double-check that the washer's power cord is securely plugged into the machine itself at the back. It can work loose over time from vibration.
