Diagnosis
A blinking red light on your Linksys Velop MX5300 node indicates a failure to establish a connection. This means the node is powered on but cannot join your mesh network. For a child node, it's unable to connect wirelessly to the parent. For the parent node, it cannot connect to your modem or the wider internet.
How to Fix It
First, identify which node is blinking. For a child node, move it much closer to the parent node (ideally in the same room), wait a few minutes for it to reconnect, then power it down and move it back to its desired location. For the parent node, check the Ethernet cable from its yellow Internet port to your modem. Ensure it's snug at both ends. Then, perform a power cycle: unplug the modem and the Velop parent node from power for 60 seconds. Plug the modem back in, wait for its lights to stabilize, then plug the Velop back in. Wait several minutes for the light to turn solid blue.
If That Didn't Work
If the blinking red persists, try a factory reset on the problematic node. Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds until the light flashes red rapidly, then release. The node will reboot. You must then re-add it to your mesh network via the Linksys app. If the parent node's light becomes a solid red after your attempts, the issue is likely with your internet service provider or modem. Contact your ISP to verify service status and modem functionality.
Heads Up
Never factory reset the parent node while your child nodes are online, as this will delete your entire network configuration. Always reset and re-add nodes one at a time, starting with the parent.
