my samsung wa50r5400aw washer just shows '5E' on the display and beeps, then shuts off. what does that mean?

DIAGNOSIS 5E is a drain error. The washer can't pump out the water. The drain hose is kinked, clogged, or installed too high.

FIX Unplug the washer. Pull it out. Check the drain hose at the back. Make sure it's not bent or pinched. Detach it from the standpipe or sink. Check for a sock or coin clog. Reinstall it. The hose should not go more than 96 inches up into the standpipe.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The drain pump filter could be blocked. Open the small access panel on the front lower-left corner. Have a towel ready. Unscrew the filter cap slowly to drain any water. Pull out any debris. Clean it. Screw it back in tight.

HEADS UP Never force the drain hose more than 8 feet horizontally or push it too far down a standpipe. It creates a siphon that stops drainage.
