my wen 56203i generator won't start at all, just sputters and dies. what's wrong?

The most common cause is old or contaminated fuel in the tank. Gasoline older than 30 days can degrade and clog the system.

1. Drain all fuel from the tank.
2. Refill with fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum 87 octane rating. Do not mix oil with the gasoline.
3. Make sure the generator is on a flat surface when adding fuel.
4. Open the vacuum diversion valve on the fuel cap by rotating it clockwise to the ON position before trying to start.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: Check the oil level. The engine has an oil protection system and will not start if the oil is low. Add oil to the correct level. If it still won't start, the air filter could be dirty or the spark plug may be fouled. Clean or replace them.

HEADS UP: Never store the generator with untreated fuel for more than 30 days. For short-term storage (30-60 days), fill the tank completely with fuel stabilizer mixed in and run the engine for 2-3 minutes to circulate it.
