DIAGNOSIS The Smart Diagnosis or sensor wash system is extending the cycle due to detected soil. This is often caused by a faulty turbidity sensor.
FIX
1. Run a cleaning cycle with a dishwasher cleaner or a cup of vinegar placed upright on the top rack. Sensor cloudiness can cause misreads.
2. Ensure you are not overloading the racks or blocking the middle spray arm. Poor water circulation forces the sensor to extend wash time.
3. Clean the sensor window. It is located on the lower front inside wall of the tub. Wipe it with a soft cloth dampened with vinegar.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The turbidity sensor itself may be faulty. The sensor measures water clarity to adjust cycle time; a failure causes continuous time additions.
HEADS UP Using the wrong detergent, such as pods in hard water, can leave suds or film that the sensor misinterprets as soil, causing perpetual time extensions.
