Diagnosis
The locking latch mechanism on the hose wand cuff is broken or not fully engaged.
How to Fix It
1. Inspect the gray plastic cuff at the end of the hose where it inserts into the vacuum back.
2. Look for the small black locking tab inside the cuff. Ensure it moves freely and springs back.
3. Clean any debris from the cuff and the receiver port on the vacuum.
4. When inserting, listen for a definitive 'click'. A faint click often means incomplete engagement.
5. If the tab is broken, the entire hose wand assembly must be replaced.
If That Didn't Work
The receiver port on the vacuum body may be cracked. Visually inspect the plastic socket where the hose inserts for hairline fractures.
Heads Up
Tugging the hose sideways to detach it, rather than pressing the release button, is the main cause of this latch failure.
