the ice maker is running constantly but making tiny, thin slivers of ice instead of cubes, how do i fix this?

DIAGNOSIS The freeze cycle is being interrupted prematurely. The most common cause is ambient air temperature above 90°F or direct sunlight/surface heat warming the unit.

FIX 1) Relocate the unit. It requires ambient temperatures between 50°F and 90°F. 2) Ensure 5 inches of clearance on all sides for ventilation. 3) Check that the unit is not on a warm surface like a dishwasher or oven. 4) Use cold tap water to fill, not room-temperature water.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The problem is likely a faulty temperature sensor on the evaporator. The unit cannot detect when the ice slab is fully frozen. This requires a warranty service check.

HEADS UP In high humidity, frost can build up on the evaporator, insulating it and causing the same thin-ice issue. If you see frost inside, unplug the unit for 2-4 hours to let it completely defrost before restarting.
