DIAGNOSIS Residual taste from manufacturing oils or cleaning solution in the water circuit. The food-grade silicone tubing and plastic components can retain odors.
FIX 1) Perform a full cleaning cycle with only fresh water and 1 cup of lemon juice (citric acid). 2) After the cycle, drain the tank via the back plug. 3) Refill with fresh water and run 2-3 complete ice-making cycles. Discard all ice from these cycles.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The activated carbon filter in the water tank (if your model has one) may be saturated or missing. Check for a small filter cartridge in the tank's fill well. Replace it or remove it if it's the source of the odor.
HEADS UP The ice will always taste like the water you use. For best results, use filtered or distilled water. Never use softened water, as high sodium content can damage the pump and affect taste.
