DIAGNOSIS Residual taste from new unit manufacturing or improper rinsing after a cleaning cycle. Food-grade plastics and lubricants can leave a temporary odor absorbed by the ice.
FIX For a new unit: Perform a full clean cycle with only white vinegar and water (no commercial solution). After the cycle, discard the first 3-4 full batches of ice. For persistent taste: Use only distilled or filtered water. Ensure the ice basket and scoop are also cleaned and thoroughly rinsed.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Odor may be in the silicone water inlet tube. During a clean cycle, use a small funnel to pour a 50/50 vinegar solution directly into the fill hole at the top of the evaporator chamber.
HEADS UP Never store ice in the basket for more than 24 hours. Stale ice will absorb ambient odors and affect the taste of new ice.
