Diagnosis
The camera's infrared (IR) LEDs are reflecting off a surface very close to the lens, like a window, screen, or wall, causing a 'whiteout' effect.
How to Fix It
If the camera is mounted indoors looking through a window, you must turn off the IR night vision. 1) In the Ring app, go to your device settings. 2) Tap Video Settings. 3) Toggle 'Infrared Night Vision' to Off. The camera will then use color night vision if there's any ambient light, or just a dark image if not.
If That Didn't Work
If it's mounted outdoors and doing this, check for spider webs, leaves, or debris directly in front of the camera lens and IR light housing. A quick wipe with a soft, dry cloth can clear it.
Heads Up
Never use glass cleaner or liquids directly on the camera lens. A dry microfiber cloth is all you need. Mounting it outdoors but under an eave or too close to a wall can also cause IR reflection.
