Not necessarily broken. The LED worklight is designed to turn on automatically when you squeeze the speed control trigger. First, let's diagnose.
- Make sure the drill itself is operational. Install a charged battery and try to drill something. If the drill runs but the light doesn't come on, the light may have failed.
- Check that you're in a well-lit area. Sometimes the LED is subtle and hard to see in bright light.
If that didn't work: The connection might be faulty. Since the light is integrated, this isn't a user-serviceable part. You'll need to have it looked at by a qualified repair person.
Heads up: Remember, that light is only meant to illuminate your immediate work area on the material. Don't try to use it as a room light or a flashlight.
