The issue of dry mop pads on the Roborock Q Revo MaxV is typically caused by an air lock in the internal pump system or a blockage in the water delivery line between the dock and the robot's internal tank. When the vacuum attempts to prime the pump, air bubbles can become trapped, preventing the vacuum from creating the necessary suction to pull water from the clean water tank into the mops. If you hear the pump humming but the pads remain dry, the pump is functioning, but the fluid path is obstructed. Another common culprit is the "Dry Mop" setting being accidentally enabled in the app or the water flow being set to a level too low for your specific floor type. Additionally, if you have used third-party cleaning solutions that are not specifically formulated for Roborock, a thin layer of residue or "slime" can build up in the micro-nozzles of the mop assembly, physically blocking the water droplets from reaching the cloth. You can confirm this by checking the dock's clean water tank; if the water level hasn't dropped after a full cleaning cycle, the failure is in the delivery system.
How to Fix It
To restore water flow to your mop pads, follow these precise steps to clear the system and calibrate the settings:
- Open the Roborock app and navigate to the "Cleaning Settings" menu. Locate the "Water Flow" toggle. Ensure it is set to "High" for the initial troubleshooting phase to force maximum pressure through the lines.
- Inspect the clean water tank in the dock. Remove the tank and ensure the rubber gasket at the bottom is seated flat and is not pinched or folded. If the gasket is displaced, the dock cannot create a vacuum seal to pump water into the robot.
- Perform a "Hard Prime": Fill the clean water tank to the max line. While the robot is docked, manually press down on the top of the water tank to ensure it is fully locked into the docking station's pins.
- Remove the mop pads from the robot and inspect the water outlets (the small holes where water drips onto the pads). Use a sewing needle or a thin pin to gently poke into the holes to clear any calcium buildup or debris.
- Run a "Mop Only" cleaning cycle for a small 2x2 meter area. This forces the robot to focus exclusively on water delivery without the distraction of vacuuming logic.
If That Didn't Work
- Air Lock Purge: If the pump is humming but no water flows, there is likely an air bubble. Remove the clean water tank, fill it halfway, and give it a vigorous shake. Reinstall it and start a cleaning cycle. If it still fails, try adding a small amount of warm (not boiling) water to the tank to decrease the surface tension of the water, which helps the pump prime more easily.
- Check the Docking Pins: Examine the gold-plated charging and data pins on both the dock and the bottom of the robot. Use a microfiber cloth with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to clean the pins. If the robot isn't communicating perfectly with the dock, it may fail to trigger the water-filling sequence before it departs for cleaning.
- Mop Pad Saturation: If the pads are only slightly damp, they may be too old. Once the microfiber loops on the Q Revo MaxV pads flatten out, they lose their ability to hold moisture. Replace the pads with a fresh set and see if the "streaking" returns.
- Reset the Water Pump: Power the robot off completely using the physical power button, wait 60 seconds, and restart it. This resets the internal logic board and can clear temporary software glitches that prevent the water pump from activating.

- Never use bleach, vinegar, or abrasive cleaners in the water tank; these can corrode the internal pump seals and lead to permanent leaks.
- Only use the official Roborock Floor Cleaning Solution. Third-party soaps cause foaming, which creates air pockets in the lines and leads to the "dry mop" symptom.
- If you live in a hard-water area, descale your tank once a month with distilled water to prevent calcium carbonate from clogging the micro-nozzles.
- Always ensure the mop pads are slightly dampened before attaching them to the robot for the first run of the day; this reduces the time it takes for the internal pump to saturate the cloth.
