the power light on my epson ecotank et-2800 is on but the display is blank and it won't do anything.

Yeah, this one's common. It's likely in a deep power-saving mode. The printer has a Sleep Mode that uses about 0.7W and a Power Off Mode that uses about 0.2W.

Fix:

  1. Press the printer's power button firmly. You might need to hold it for a couple of seconds to wake it from Sleep or Power Off Mode.
  2. Check the power connection. The rated voltage is AC 100–240V universal. Ensure the cord is fully seated at the printer and the outlet.

If that didn't work:

  • The 1.44" color LCD might have failed. Try a full power cycle: unplug the printer for 60 seconds, then plug it back in.
  • If the display remains dead after a cycle, the unit may need service. It has a 2-year limited warranty with registration.

Heads up: For standalone copying, the display should be active. If you only need to copy, the printer can do that without a PC, but the display is needed for navigation.
