Diagnosis
Yeah, this one's common. Over time, moisture and steam can seep behind the membrane of the touch control panel, causing the contacts to degrade or get dirty.
How to Fix It
Start with a simple clean. Make sure the machine is off. Use a slightly damp cloth (not wet) with a tiny bit of mild soap to wipe the entire control panel, then dry it thoroughly. Sometimes a film of grease or detergent residue builds up and interferes with the capacitive touch. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or sprays directly on it.
If That Didn't Work
If cleaning doesn't help, the control panel itself is likely failing. On this integrated model, the panel is part of the door fascia. The whole unit—often called the user interface board or touch panel—would need to be replaced as a single part.
Heads Up
Don't keep jabbing at it angrily. If the panel is failing internally, excessive force won't help and could crack the glass/membrane. If it becomes completely unusable, you can often still start a cycle by pressing and holding the Start button for a few seconds after selecting a program.
