Diagnosis
The door latch mechanism is out of alignment or the strike plate is worn. This model has a motorized latch, and if it's not engaging smoothly, it'll fail.
How to Fix It
Inspect the plastic strike plate on the door panel. Look for cracks or worn-down edges. Also, check the U-shaped latch hook on the tub frame for any obstructions or damage. Clean both areas with a damp cloth.
If That Didn't Work
The door latch motor assembly itself (part #00654532) might be failing. If you hear a grinding or weak whirring sound when you gently push the door closed, the motor gears are probably stripped.
Heads Up
Slamming the door can break the latch or door hinges. If it's not latching with normal pressure, don't force it—something's misaligned or broken.
