the wireless remote start for my gp3000i won't connect, the light on the generator just blinks red

— asked by Morgan

Quick answer: The wireless module on the generator and the remote are not paired or have lost synchronization.

Diagnosis

The wireless module on the generator and the remote are not paired or have lost synchronization.

How to Fix It

Re-pair the remote to the generator.
1. On the generator's control panel, press and hold the wireless pairing button for 5 seconds until the wireless LED flashes rapidly.
2. Within 30 seconds, press and hold the 'ON' button on the remote for 5 seconds until its LED flashes.
3. Wait. The generator's wireless LED should turn solid green, indicating a successful pair.
4. Test the remote start function from at least 20 feet away.

If That Didn't Work

Replace the battery in the remote (CR2032). A weak remote battery is a common cause of pairing failure.

Heads Up

The remote operates on a specific frequency. If you have multiple Generac inverter generators nearby, you may accidentally pair to the wrong unit.
