Diagnosis
This is a drain system hang-up. Most often, it's a clog in the pump filter or a restricted drain hose.
How to Fix It
Unplug the washer. Place towels on the floor. Open the small service panel at the bottom front—there's a drain hose behind it. Pull the hose cap to drain water into a pan. Then, unscrew the pump filter (usually a twist-lock), remove any debris like socks or coins, and reinstall. Reconnect everything and test.
If That Didn't Work
The drain pump motor might have failed. You can check for continuity with a multimeter if you're handy, but replacement involves accessing the pump from the front or bottom.
Heads Up
Always have a shallow pan ready when cleaning the filter; a quart or more of water will come out. And never force the filter—it threads in smoothly.
