Diagnosis
The Antarctic Star LY2010-AS is a thermoelectric (Peltier) cooler, not a compressor-based refrigerator. This design has fundamental cooling limits. It works by transferring heat from the interior to the exterior fins via an electric current, and its cooling capacity is low. It cannot cool room-temperature items to true refrigeration temperatures (below 40°F/4°C); its best-case cooling is typically 30-40°F *below* the ambient room temperature. If the room is warm (e.g., 78°F/26°C), the drinks will only cool to about 48°F/9°C, which feels "kinda cool." Overloading it or placing warm items inside overwhelms its minimal cooling power.
How to Fix It
To maximize its limited performance:
- Pre-chill all items: Only place beverages that are already cold from a main refrigerator into the mini fridge.
- Reduce the load: Fill it to half capacity or less. Its 10-liter size is for a few cans, not a full pack.
- Improve ventilation: Ensure at least 5 inches of clear space around the entire unit, especially the rear vent, to allow heat to dissipate.
- Start it empty and cool: Plug it in, leave it empty and running in a cool room for 4-6 hours before adding any items.
If That Didn't Work
If drinks still aren't cold enough, the issue is likely environmental or a unit failure. First, verify the unit is in the coolest room available, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Next, listen and feel: you should hear a faint fan hum and feel warm air being pushed from the rear vent. If it's silent and not warm, the fan may have failed or the Peltier module is dead—contact Antarctic Star support for a warranty claim, as these parts are not user-serviceable.

This type of cooler is intended for maintaining the chill of already-cold items in a personal space like a bedroom or office. It is not designed or capable of acting as a primary food refrigerator for perishables.
