Diagnosis
Proper cleaning is essential for hygiene and efficiency. The interior of your Euhomy cooler is a sensitive environment with a plastic liner and a rubber door seal that can be damaged by harsh chemicals or abrasion, leading to odors or cooling loss.
How to Fix It
- Unplug the unit and remove all cans/bottles. Let it sit with the door open for a few minutes to slightly warm up, making frost removal easier if present.
- Prepare a cleaning solution of mild dish soap (a few drops) in a bowl of warm—not hot—water. Dampen a soft, lint-free cloth or non-abrasive sponge in the solution, wringing it out thoroughly so it's damp, not dripping wet.
- Wipe down all interior surfaces, including shelves and the underside of the top panel. For stubborn spots, gently use a soft-bristled toothbrush dipped in the soapy solution.
- Clean the door gasket separately using a cloth rinsed in clean warm water (no soap) to preserve the rubber's integrity. Wipe in the grooves to remove debris.
- Rinse the entire interior with a clean cloth dampened with plain water to remove any soapy residue.
- Dry all surfaces completely with a soft, dry towel. Leave the door open for 30-60 minutes to ensure all moisture evaporates before plugging the unit back in.
If That Didn't Work
For persistent mildew smells or stains, create a paste of baking soda and water, apply it to the stain, let it sit for 15 minutes, then wipe clean. For general odor absorption, place an open box of baking soda inside the unplugged, dry unit for 24 hours before resuming normal use. Never use store-bought "all-purpose" cleaners, bleach, vinegar, or abrasive pads.
Heads Up
Ensure the unit is completely bone-dry inside before restoring power. Any lingering moisture can refreeze into ice on the cooling elements or cause electrical issues. Always handle the glass door and interior shelves with care to avoid cracks.
