DIAGNOSIS It absolutely should work with one drawer. If it doesn’t heat, the unit likely thinks the empty slot’s drawer is still inserted but not closed properly, triggering a safety lock.
FIX First, ensure the empty slot is truly empty—no basket or liner accidentally left in. The sensors are in the main unit, not the drawers. When using one drawer, you must select the specific zone (Top or Bottom) you’re cooking in on the control panel. You can’t just use the “Match Cook” function with one drawer empty.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Check the metal contact points inside the empty drawer cavity. If they’re bent or have food debris on them, the unit might not register the drawer as “absent.” Clean them gently with a dry toothbrush and ensure they’re straight.
HEADS UP The appliance will still draw power and the fan may run for the empty zone if you have the wrong setting. Always select the single zone you’re actually using.
