Diagnosis
Your Cosori pressure cooker leaking steam from the side of the lid is almost always a sealing issue, not necessarily a broken unit. The most common causes are an improperly seated lid, a displaced or dirty silicone sealing ring, or food debris on the rim of the inner pot or lid.
How to Fix It
Start with these steps:
- Turn the cooker off and release all pressure using the quick-release valve.
- Open the lid. Inspect the silicone sealing ring (the black or clear ring in the underside of the lid). Ensure it is fully seated in its groove and not pinched or folded.
- Remove the sealing ring, wash it with warm soapy water, and dry it thoroughly before re-installing it firmly into its channel.
- Wipe the rim of the inner pot and the underside of the lid where the seal makes contact to remove any oil or food particles.
- Close the lid. Align the arrow on the lid with the unlock symbol on the base, then rotate the lid to the lock position until you hear a distinct click.
If That Didn't Work
If steam still escapes, the sealing ring may be permanently deformed, worn out, or damaged. Inspect it for cracks, tears, or a loose fit. A replacement ring is needed. Also, check the inner pot rim for any dents or warping that prevent a seal. If the lid itself appears warped or the locking mechanism is damaged, the unit requires service. Heads Up
Never force the lid closed or open. Always ensure the float valve is clear and can rise freely, and that the steam release valve is set to "Sealing" during pressure cooking. Using an overfilled pot (above the Max line) can also cause leakage.
