DIAGNOSIS Your washer is detecting too many suds, which can slow down rinsing and damage the pump. This model is very sensitive because it's a high-efficiency (HE) machine. Even "HE" detergent can cause this if you use too much.
FIX 1) Run a rinse and spin cycle with no clothes to clear the current suds. 2) For future loads, drastically reduce your detergent. You should use no more than two tablespoons of HE liquid detergent for a full, heavily soiled load. For most loads, one tablespoon is plenty. 3) Make sure you're using only HE detergent—non-HE detergents create massive suds in these machines. 4) Add detergent to the bottom of the basket *before* adding clothes, not in the dispenser drawer.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If you're already using a tiny amount of HE detergent, the problem might be residue buildup in the drum or drain system from past overuse. Run a cleaning cycle with a washing machine cleaner or a cup of white vinegar (no clothes) to break down leftover soap film.
HEADS UP More detergent does not mean cleaner clothes. In fact, it leads to residue on fabrics and inside your machine. That little cap on the detergent bottle is a massive over-measurement for HE washers. Ignore it.
