DIAGNOSIS A drainage failure. The pump isn't moving the water out. The most common reasons are a clog in the drain system or a failed pump.
FIX First, check for a simple clog. 1) Unplug the washer. 2) Locate the drain hose at the back of the machine and disconnect it from the standpipe or sink. Check for obstructions. 3) More likely, the clog is in the filter or the pump. On this model, the pump access is behind the lower front kickplate. Gently pry it off. You'll see a small round drain filter cap. Have a shallow pan and towels ready. Slowly unscrew the filter cap—water will gush out. Reach in and pull out any coins, hair, or debris. Clear the hose leading from the tub.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If the path is clear, the pump itself might be dead. Listen during a drain cycle (if you can get it to start one). You should hear a humming and water movement. If you hear a hum but no water movement, the pump impeller might be broken. If you hear nothing, the pump motor or the control commanding it has likely failed.
HEADS UP Always check the filter first. It's the #1 cause of drain problems. And remember to clean that filter every 3-6 months to prevent this. A little maintenance saves a lot of hassle.
