Diagnosis
The issue is that your Windows computer is not using your preferred print settings (like color, paper type, or quality) as the starting point for every job. This requires manual adjustment each time you print. The solution is to configure the permanent default properties for the Epson WF-2860 in the Windows printing system.
How to Fix It
To set universal defaults, configure the printer's properties in Windows Settings or Control Panel.
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners. Select your Epson WF-2860 and click Printing preferences.
- Alternatively, open the Control Panel, go to Devices and Printers, right-click your WF-2860, and select Printing preferences.
- In the preferences window, configure all desired defaults. For the WF-2860, critically set Color (Color or Black & White), Paper Type (like Plain Paper), Print Quality (Draft, Text, or Photo), and Paper Size.
- Click Apply or OK to save. These settings will now load automatically in any application's print dialog.
If That Didn't Work
If applications still ignore your defaults, try setting them via the printer queue. Right-click the WF-2860 in Devices and Printers and choose See what's printing. In the queue window, click Printer > Printing Preferences and set your options there. Also, ensure you are not using a "Microsoft Print to PDF" or other virtual printer as your default Windows device. Some programs, like web browsers, have their own separate print settings; you may need to save defaults within those apps as well.
Heads Up
Changing these defaults in Windows does not affect direct printing from a mobile device or the printer's own control panel. Those require separate configuration. Also, if you have multiple printer drivers installed (e.g., WF-2860 Series and WF-2860 Series [EPSON]), ensure you are setting defaults for the driver you actually use.
