DIAGNOSIS The onboard sensors have detected reduced airflow, triggering a filter wash reminder in the Dyson app. This is a regular maintenance requirement.
FIX Wash the filter with cold water only.
- Remove the cyclone bin by pressing the red button at the top.
- Twist the purple filter counter-clockwise and pull it out from the top of the bin.
- Rinse it under cold tap water, gently squeezing and agitating it until the water runs clear. Do NOT use soap, detergent, or put it in a dishwasher.
- Let it air dry for a full 24 hours—no heat, no hair dryer. It must be completely dry.
- Reinstall the dry filter and the bin. The app alert should clear after the next use.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If the alert persists, the secondary pre-motor filter (located near the bin release button) might also need washing. Follow the same cold-water rinse and 24-hour dry process.
HEADS UP Running the vacuum with a wet or damp filter can cause motor damage and void your warranty. The 24-hour dry time is non-negotiable.
