DIAGNOSIS: F1 indicates a failure in the oven temperature sensor circuit. The sensor (a thin metal rod in the back of the oven) has either failed, or its wiring is damaged.
FIX:
- Unplug the range. Locate the oven temperature sensor—it's a thin, pencil-like tube at the top rear of the oven interior.
- Gently pull it forward from its bracket. You'll see two wires connected with spade terminals at the back.
- Disconnect the wires. Use a multimeter to measure resistance across the sensor terminals. At room temp, it should read between 1050-1100 ohms. If it reads open (infinite) or short (near 0), it's bad.
- Replace the sensor, reconnect wires, and plug in the range. The error should clear.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If the sensor tests okay, the wiring harness between the sensor and the main control board is damaged, or the control board itself is faulty and not reading the signal correctly.
HEADS UP: Be very careful not to kink or bend the sensor when removing or installing it. It's fragile. Also, never run the oven with a faulty sensor (F1 error) as temperature control will be completely off.
