DIAGNOSIS: The door hinge springs are likely out of adjustment or the door is misaligned. Over time, the springs can lose tension or the mounting screws can shift.
FIX:
- Open the door fully. Look at the bottom where the hinges attach to the range body.
- You'll see two large Phillips-head screws on each hinge bracket. These control the door's vertical position.
- Loosen (but don't remove) these screws slightly.
- Gently lift or lower the door until it sits flush with the range front and closes smoothly, then re-tighten the screws firmly.
- Test the close/open action several times. Minor adjustments make a big difference.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The hinge springs themselves might be worn out. You can replace them by removing the door (lift straight up and off the hinges once it's past the stop position) and swapping the springs on the hinge arms.
HEADS UP: The oven door is heavy glass. Have a helper support it while you loosen the adjustment screws to prevent it from suddenly dropping.
